Big Snake
“Big Snake” was taken at Tilden Regional Park in Berkeley, California on May 3, 2008.  I cannot recall which specific trail I was on when I ran into this guy; but he was the longest and fattest snake that I have ever seen while on the trails.   When I was done screaming, I took the photo.

Almost stepped on a rattlesnake on a train track hike to Carrizo Gorge. I didn’t scream as I used all my energy to retain my bodily fluids…

haha – Carrizo Gorge is on my unwritten “to do” list.

I have actually stepped on a snake during a hike in San Diego County. It struck my shoe pretty quick and hard. I heard it, felt it and saw the damage (two puncture holes in the shoe.) But never, ever saw the snake. My partner saw the whole thing and was terrified. Luckily, it was not a rattlesnake and it only struck my shoe – since i hike mostly in shorts.

Also, that must have been really scary! When I make it out there I will remember to avoid or be careful on the tracks.
